Another internship week done! Yay! The left two ones will be 3 days weeks so I’ll survive them.
We had another cat without an owner at the icu today. Or well she had one but she wasn’t registered so they couldn’t find her. She had a broken leg and surgery for it would be costly so no one wanted to take her in n pay for it. I wanted to so badly I’m just dirt poor with like 500sek in my bank account. Luckily a shelter has decided to take her in until they find the owner so she won’t have to be put down. Spent most of my evening feeling depressed about not being able to help her so I’m glad I got those news before leaving! I have concluded that I must become rich so can spend my money saving all these cats… but I guess you don’t become rich by doing selfless deeds so it won’t happen…
In more educational things: got to see a diffusion catheter today and that was rly cool! A mastectomy on a doggie ( and a lot of animals) is obviously a whole ordeal since they’ve got so many teets, at least if they need to remove a lot of them. This doggie had all on one side removed and needed her numbing meds throughout. So she had a diffusion catheter. We put the med in the flushed with a precise number of NaCl, and did the same in the back end off it. I shall look up bore how the actual catheter looks and sits within the body since I could only see the ports now.
I also got to see a fecal catheter for the first time this week but that’s significantly less exciting haha.
I have some course work I need to do this weekend, may this serve as a reminder to actually do it.
